NEW YORK – Exploring Central Park and Dining at Tavern on the Green
Last weekend, I embraced an exciting opportunity to combine two of my favorite activities: photography and mindfulness. I signed up for a unique photography class in Central Park that focused on capturing beautiful images with a phone camera and practicing mindfulness techniques. To top it all off, the experience included a delicious lunch at the iconic Tavern on the Green. It was a no-brainer! Central Park is one of my favorite spots, and I adore taking photos with my phone. Plus, I hadn’t been to Tavern on the Green in ages, so that I couldn’t pass it up!

A Perfect Day in Central Park
We were fortunate with the weather. It was a gorgeous day, with the sun shining brightly and a gentle breeze making the walk even more enjoyable. The class began at the entrance to Central Park, right at 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue. From there, we strolled through the park, absorbing the beauty around us, all while learning new photography techniques. Our instructor emphasized the importance of being present and fully engaging with our surroundings as we snapped photos.
I captured some stunning photos as we walked through the park, highlighting the lush greenery and vibrant fall colors. Walking relaxed allowed me to notice details I would usually overlook. Finally, we reached Tavern on the Green, nestled inside the park at 67 Central Park West. The iconic restaurant’s charming ambiance was the perfect end to a fulfilling day.
A Memorable Lunch at Tavern on the Green
After our stroll, we settled in for lunch. The dining experience at Tavern on the Green was nothing short of delightful. The menu featured a variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last. Surrounded by the beauty of Central Park, we enjoyed a delicious meal and shared stories about our favorite parts of the photography class. The entire experience left me feeling refreshed, inspired, and grateful for the simple pleasures of a day spent in Central Park.

After a stroll through the park, we wound up at the famous Tavern on the Green.

Indulging in a Tasty Fried Chicken Sandwich
After a lovely walk and mindful photography, it was finally time to sit down and order lunch. As I scanned the menu, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something I wouldn’t usually choose. I thought, “What the heck, let’s go for it!” So, I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with French fries and topped it off with a piping hot cup of black coffee.
A Mixed Culinary Experience
The fried chicken sandwich was delicious, with a perfectly crispy coating and juicy meat inside. I was thrilled with my choice and glad I took a chance at something new. However, the French fries left a bit to be desired. Were they the best fries I’ve ever had? Sadly, no. They were thin, slightly overcooked, and lacking flavor. Nevertheless, the tasty sandwich made up for the fries, and the coffee was a comforting finish to a delightful meal.

Finding Artistic Inspiration in Central Park
As you wander Central Park, you might stumble upon scenes that feel straight out of a masterpiece by the French Impressionist painter Georges Seurat. His famous painting, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, captures a timeless, leisurely day in the park, and Central Park often exudes a similar vibe. Whether it’s the dappled sunlight, the vibrant colors of nature, or the diverse crowd of park-goers, it’s easy to see why artists are drawn to this iconic space.
You may even find yourself reminded of other famous painters and their works. Perhaps a particular view will evoke the brushstrokes of Monet or the bold colors of Van Gogh. Central Park offers various scenes, each with its unique beauty and charm. So the next time you visit, watch for those artistic moments—they’re everywhere, just waiting to be enjoyed!

Would be nice to have more information about Central Park and less promotion of Tavern on the Green.
