I had a delightful dining experience at Copinette located at 891 1st Avenue between 50th and 51st Street.
Some time ago I met the owner (who has since passed) at a private club called Club A and dated him. When he owned the restaurant it was named Copain, which means “boyfriend” in French. Who knew!
I raved about Amy Babic’s Copinette, a restaurant renowned for its amazing American cuisine with French influence. It was time to try her second restaurant Kurant Wine Bar located at 1091 2nd Avenue between 57th and 58th Street in Manhattan.
Bar Italia Madison served the best Grilled Chicken Paillard I have ever had. The chicken was tender and tasted divine. Then, the assorted vegetables gracing the chicken arrived in a magical olive oil-based dressing, making the legumes light and fresh, as if floating on air when savored.
Mark and Mathew know thousands of tunes and what’s performed works starts with requests paid for via Venmo. If someone in the audience doesn’t like the song they’re playing, they can outbid that song. whereas Mark and Mathew stop immediately and play the new request. If no one sends a paid request, Mark and Mathew play the Baby Shark Song until the audience is numb and desperate for something new.
It was another cold Monday evening when I met my friend in the TriBeCa area (not a soul around) at the relatively new French brasserie Fouquet. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the new TriBeCa hotel, Hotel Barriere Fouquet, and marks the 11th Fouquet location. The hotel is also home to the speak-easy-inspired Bar Titsou and a second casual dining space, Par Ici Cafe.
The El Parador Cafe in Manhattan’s Kip’s Bay looked perfect; it had a convenient location and a tempting menu. Stepping inside the door on 34th Street, you are immediately drawn into the vibe of a Mexican vacation. The solid wood tables and chairs, mood lighting, and Mexican music with smooth acoustics extolled “bring on the salsa!”
Quantum Leap has become our go-to restaurant for healthy, delicious, satisfying food. From the comfortable, homey vibe and an extensive menu to the smoothies and decadent vegan desserts, you, too, may find nourishing respite at your new best friend’s kitchen table on 1st Avenue and 60th Street.
For me, food is love. Chopping, preparing, and creating a delicious meal for family and friends and then enjoying it together is one of life’s great pleasures. Nina and the staff at The Butcher’s Daughter Nolita created that caring vibe with a delicious, healthy, relaxing, quiet meal experience. From the moment we saw the inviting restaurant entry to the delicious dessert and golden elixir latte, The Butcher’s Daughter Nolita was a welcome elixir to help us ease into the weekend.
This was one of the best restaurant meals that I’ve had. The combination of the eggplant on the chicken and the melted mozzarella was superb. The vegetables were perfectly prepared, and the roasted potatoes were sublime.
Sometimes you go to a restaurant with no expectations and are pleasantly surprised. That was my experience when I had lunch at Amata, which in Italian means beloved. Amata is located at 209 E. 56th Street, and the food was marvelous!
