I found The Butcher’s Daughter in Nolita, another gem on the Seated app while searching for delicious and creatively prepared plant-based food. The Butcher’s Daughter in Nolita is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that delivers an amazing, satisfying meal and overall dining experience. Indeed, the origin of the restaurant’s name explained the relaxing vibe for me “…we treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat: We chop, filet and carve fresh produce into healthy vegetarian meals and pretty juice.”

Jazz Standards
We hungrily entered The Butcher’s Daughter in Nolita on an early Friday evening before our show at the Theater for the New City. Straightaway, we settled into reviewing the menus to some wonderful jazz music. Meanwhile, the playlist included some great jazz standards with piano, bass, tenor sax, and drums. A bottle of water with glasses was immediately brought to the table.

The menu was replete with exciting vegetarian options. Moreover, we were guided by our knowledgeable server, Nina. Likewise, Nina was attentive and friendly and knew the menu inside out. Hence, she clearly explained the ingredients, understand our needs and make recommendations with aplomb.
Happy Hour Menu
We ordered from the happy hour menu, beginning with a house red (Pinot Noir, The Butcher’s Daughter. ‘Sultry Red’ Santa Barbara, CA 2017) and a Sloop Juice Bomb IPA. The pinot noir was bright, flavorful, and had legs, leading to our ordering a second a bit later. The IPA was frosty and delicious.

Butcher’s Veggie Burger
We chose the Artichoke Heart Quesadilla with vegan cheese and the Butcher’s veggie Burger with vegan cheese. The quesadilla was crispy and meaty – thick with artichokes, spinach, and roasted peppers with marinara dipping sauce on the side.

Oven Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges
The burger was vegetable and black bean with lots of sauteed onions, vegan chipotle mayo, and arugula on a brioche bun. There were plenty of oven-roasted sweet potato wedges on the side to share.

We finished with a beautiful and delicious Strawberry Rhubarb Linzer Torte made with almond shortbread, rhubarb jam topped with coconut cream, and fresh strawberries.

The selection of Coffees, Teas, and Wellness Lattes alone is worth another trip just to keep sampling. We chose the Hot Golden Elixir Latte. If you’re in the neighborhood, you’re in luck; there is a Butcher’s Daughter takeout market right next door.
Food is Love
For me, food is love. Undoubtedly, chopping, preparing, and creating a delicious meal for family and friends and then enjoying it together is one of life’s great pleasures. Nina and the staff at The Butcher’s Daughter Nolita created that caring vibe with a delicious, healthy, relaxing, quiet meal experience. Surely from the moment we saw the inviting restaurant entry to the delicious dessert and golden elixir latte, The Butcher’s Daughter in Nolita was a welcome elixir to help us ease into the weekend.
Finally, I look forward to trying the other New York locations in Williamsburg and the West Village.
