NEW YORK – Dining at Café Carlyle with Isaac Mizrahi
It was time to try something new, so my friend and I booked The Isaac Mizrahi Show at Café Carlyle in The Hotel Carlyle on Madison Avenue near East 76 Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

So why The Issac Mizrahi Show?
Unzipped
I’ve always been a fan of Issac Mizrahi since I saw his movie Unzipped, which showcased the designs of his Fall 1994 collection and for which he received an award at The Sundance Film Festival.
Since then, I’ve learned that Mizrahi has worked in the entertainment industry as an actor, host, writer, designer, and producer for over 30 years. Moreover, he hosted his television talk show, The Isaac Mizrahi Show, for seven years, has written two books, and has made countless appearances in movies and on television. He even served as a judge on Project Runway: All-Stars.
At the Guggenheim
Mizrahi has directed productions of A Little Night Music and The Magic Flute for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Annually, he directs and narrates his production of Prokofiev’s children’s musical classic Peter and The Wolf at The Guggenheim Museum in New York.
City Winery
Finally, besides performing at Café Carlyle, Mizrahi has performed at Joe’s Pub, the West Bank Café, and City Winery locations across the country. Currently, Mizrahi has his own production company, Isaac Mizrahi Entertainment, through which he is always working on several projects.
The Café Carlyle Experience
Let’s take a look at the Café Carlyle experience,

Worth the Price
Now, I won’t say that the evening wasn’t expensive. It was. The ticket at the table for the show was the cost of a Broadway orchestra seat or more (depending on which table you chose to sit at), and the Prix Fixed dinner was priced at about $100 per person.
A Classic “New York” Event
Before continuing this post, I must emphasize that an event at Café Carlyle was worth every penny. The ambiance of the room and Mizrahi’s performance was akin to being transported to another time in history. It was an extraordinarily classic “New York” event. It was great, really great!
Time to Order
Here is what I ordered.
First came the Focaccio bread.

Then, the salad and a shrimp starter.

Next, of course, was my main course, deliciously prepared!

Perfect Coffee Cup
And, of course, like many of you, I needed a cup of perfect coffee to complete the meal.
Now, here are two images of the one and only Isaac Mizrahi.

Blunt, Brash, and Hysterically Funny!
Mizrahi’s repertoire included songs by Cole Porter, Billy Joel, and his own personal creations. And the stand-up humor in between songs was, well, “typical Mizrahi,” blunt, brash, and hysterically funny!
To sum it up, it was a great evening, and if you decide to treat yourself, check out the schedule at the Cafe Carlyle right here and book now.
