Small is Beautiful Miniature Art Exhibition

The New York City “Small is Beautiful, Miniature Art Exhibition”  is the first international exhibition of the work of 32 international miniature artists. Their oeuvre of over 130 pieces of art was presented to the general public in this magical exhibition. After the undisputed success of the #MiniatureArt phenomenon on social media networks, the exhibition offered exclusive access in “real” time to the magical and sometimes unusual worlds of some of the greatest artists of the miniature art movement.

La Villeta Italian Restaurant

This was one of the best restaurant meals that I’ve had. The combination of the eggplant on the chicken and the melted mozzarella was superb. The vegetables were perfectly prepared, and the roasted potatoes were sublime.

The Coney Island Mermaid Parade

The Mermaid Parade pays tribute to a century of Coney Island ingenuity, revelry, and pageantry by celebrating the artistic vision of the masses. With everything from a crowned King Neptune and Queen Mermaid, fantastical sea creatures and mer-folk, marching bands, and dancing groups, to baby strollers and mechanized floats, the parade showcases the creativity of individuals from the five boroughs and beyond.

Amata in Midtown

Sometimes you go to a restaurant with no expectations and are pleasantly surprised. That was my experience when I had lunch at Amata, which in Italian means beloved. Amata is located at 209 E. 56th Street, and the food was marvelous!

Sarabeth’s

Upon entering, I found a warm atmosphere along with a menu of contemporary American breakfast food and a friendly staff. By the way, not only does Sarabeth’s serve breakfast but they serve lunch and dinner every day of the week, as well as weekend brunch with a full bar and specialty cocktails.

Gemma Trattoria

Gemma Trattoria is an Italian restaurant serving delicious fare on The Bowery Hotel’s ground floor at 335 Bowery in Manhattan. My meal was fabulous. The bread was deliciously, heavily crusted grain, and the avocado puree was divine. The roasted sunflower seeds and lightly shredded radishes were an unbelievably delightful combination.

Townhouse Diner in Murray Hill

As a denizen of midtown East, it’s been my pleasure to enjoy meals served locally at the Townhouse Diner in the Murray Hill neighborhood. With a friendly proprietor George and servers like Sarah, it’s a perfect place to visit for anyone who grew up in the northeast. Something is comforting, like grandma’s kitchen, about sitting in a booth in a warm, friendly place. All that’s missing these days are the mini jukeboxes once mounted on all diner tables.

Bryant Park Grill

I highly recommend the Bryant Park Grill with its excellent food. Be sure to make a reservation because even on a Wednesday night it was crowded!

Cotenna Italian Restaurant

Cotenna is known for some of the finest Italian dishes in town and renowned for its burrata and pasta. They boast a long list of wines as well as a variety of cocktails. While some wines are costly, their food choices are delightfully affordable. The decor is simple while matching the restaurant’s innate elegance on a small scale.
