Copinette French Restaurant

I had a delightful dining experience at Copinette located at 891 1st Avenue between 50th and 51st Street.

Some time ago I met the owner (who has since passed) at a private club called Club A and dated him. When he owned the restaurant it was named Copain, which means “boyfriend” in French. Who knew!

Kurant Wine Bar

I raved about Amy Babic’s Copinette, a restaurant renowned for its amazing American cuisine with French influence. It was time to try her second restaurant Kurant Wine Bar located at 1091 2nd Avenue between 57th and 58th Street in Manhattan.

African Lion Safari and Niagara Falls

I recently took a three-day trip to Ontario, Canada, to visit The African Lion Safari and then Niagra Falls. Furthermore, I must admit that it was way too long a distance to do in three days, and I highly doubt that I would take this kind of trip again.

Bar Italia Madison

Bar Italia Madison served the best Grilled Chicken Paillard I have ever had. The chicken was tender and tasted divine. Then, the assorted vegetables gracing the chicken arrived in a magical olive oil-based dressing, making the legumes light and fresh, as if floating on air when savored.

Boozy Brunch at the Cutting Room

Mark and Mathew know thousands of tunes and what’s performed works starts with requests paid for via Venmo. If someone in the audience doesn’t like the song they’re playing, they can outbid that song. whereas Mark and Mathew stop immediately and play the new request. If no one sends a paid request, Mark and Mathew play the Baby Shark Song until the audience is numb and desperate for something new.

The Streets of Buenos Aires

I booked a 14-day cruise on the Norwegian Star with an itinerary that began in Buenos Aires, where I boarded the ship. From there, it was on to Montevideo, Uruguay, Puerto Madryn, Argentina, Punta Arenas, Chile, Ushuaia, and Argentina. We then cruised Stanley, the Falkland Islands, and the bays of Antarctica.

Say Hello to Montevideo Uruguay

Montevideo’s merchants played an important part in securing Uruguayan independence. From 1807 to 1830, Montevideo was occupied by British, Spanish, Argentine, Portuguese, and Brazilian forces, and its trade population declined. The port in the city is the hub of international transport, and the international airport at Carrasco also serves it.

The World’s Southernmost City

It was Day 7 on my NCL Cruise to Antarctica, and yes, we’re getting closer. When I was ten years old in Brooklyn, I remember reading a book called The End of The World that chronicled a journey to and through Ushuaia, the capital of Terra del Fuego, Argentina. I told myself I would visit one day, and although it took decades to get there, I finally arrived!

Antarctica in its Majesty

On Day 5 of my NCL cruise on the Norwegian Star to Antarctica, we began to find ourselves closer to one of our planet’s coldest and least populated continents. The Antarctic Sheet is the largest mass of ice in the world and is up to four miles thick. The continent contains about 90 percent of the planet’s freshwater ice and nearly 70 percent of the total fresh water on Earth. No humans permanently inhabit Antarctica. The folks there are mostly scientists focused on research.
