It’s another freezing night in New York City when I decide to brave the cold and meet a friend at Hutong, New York. This delightful Hong Kong-based restaurant brings fiery Northern Chinese cuisine to Manhattan, along with their large selection of dim sum and cocktails. Hutong is located at 731 Lexington Avenue in Beacon Court off 58th Street.
Here’s the elegant entrance to the restaurant.

The Hutong dress code is elegantly casual at this uptown chic Art Deco style restaurant inspired by the glamour of 1920s New York and Shanghai.
Hutong boasts a marvelous art deco bar. Here it is with one of the dining areas.

We decided to share two dishes. They were so delicious we ordered a third.
Vegetarian Spring Rolls and Scallop and Prawn Garlic Wontons were a perfect beginning.

Delicious!
The tastes, combinations, and preparation were sublime–like no other Chinese food experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to China!
Next, we ordered the Dim Sum Platter with Lobster Squid-Ink Dumplings, Pickled Chili Cod Dumplings, Rose Champagne Dumplings, and Rose Vegetarian Spinach Dumplings.

Each Dim Sum was delicious, with its own story of flavors and textures wrapped in a carefully staged visual presentation.
Check out Hutong, New York, when you’re in Midtown and want to treat yourself to an elegant Chinese restaurant with over-the-top cuisine.
It’s worth the trip, and I will definitely go back.
