It’s another cold and rainy night in The Big Apple, just the right conditions to meet a friend uptown for dinner. We met at Elio’s located at 1621 2nd Avenue at 84th Street. As you see from the images, Elio’s is an old-school Italian restaurant with close, intimate seating. While this arrangement made the room a bit noisy by 7 pm, the food service was outstanding, with delicious dishes brought quickly to tables.

Here are the bar, and dining areas.

Counting calories like so many people, I paused to decide between the Seafood Salad or Chicken Paillard Capricciosa. I opted for the Chicken Paillard — simple, delicious, and capricious as advertised.

First came the bread basket with olive oil or butter. Hot and freshly made with a delicious crust.

The Chicken Paillard with a side of tender, seasoned green beans. A perfect pairing!

My meal was a little pricey but competitive for the Upper East Side (or Yorkville as residents prefer to call it), with tax and tip $43.

Buon appetito!

There are so many beautiful songs in the first and second acts, too many to list. Still, song after song and with mindboggling dance presentations, the theatergoers waited in anticipation to hear Grizabella’s full performance of Memory, and it didn’t disappoint. It was so powerful that everyone in the theater held their breath momentarily.

The Conductor celebrated emotionally charged discourse governed by mutual respect, intellectual rigor, and passionate argument without the hostility, recriminations, and violence sometimes seen in today’s national debate. As with any well-crafted, intellectually fueled discourse, Reed’s work evoked exciting questions and ideas for viewers desiring continued debate.

The thrill of the disco era returned to 54 Below on March 1 for an exciting night as the famous and glamorous nightclub opened the dance floor to all who came to participate in two sold-out shows of Turn the Beat Around.
