Having taken a trip a few years ago to Croatia and Slovenia, I was curious about Manhattan’s first Slovenian-American restaurant on the Upper West Side. I arranged to meet a friend at Pekarna Slovenian American Restaurant. Pekarna initially expanded its New American menu to include Slovenian cuisine and has become a popular events venue in its neighborhood.

The food was fresh and fabulous. I added a topping of grilled chicken to sauteed cauliflower, sesame seeds, golden raisins, Calabrian chilies, scallions, croutons to my salad entree and almond sauce.

As I was ready to leave the restaurant, I noticed their hosting of Alice in Wonderland: An Immersive Cocktail Experience. It was irresistible, and I went to take photos of the event. Fun indeed! They were serving Mocktails!

I highly recommend Pekarna. Check their events schedule to see if you’d like to attend when you go. Excellent cuisine and fun events! Drinking in America at the Minetta Lane Theater

Royo delivered a resounding performance, transforming into over 12 characters experiencing the stages of alcoholism and its effects on each character’s interaction with himself and others. At times, it’s hard to tell who Man is, as his toxic masculinity dominates and elevates with the abuse of alcohol.

MasterVoices Presents a Concert of Jewish Sacred Music at Central Synagogue

Tonight’s O How Good was a celebration of the life of MasterVoices board member Lois Conway and the years of philanthropy and insightful leadership characterizing her service. The venue chosen for this event was inspiring and magnificent and set in New York City’s Central Synagogue, a stunning example of Moorish Revival architecture and a testament to the beauty and richness of Jewish tradition and culture.
