I met a group of friends this past weekend for brunch at the Electric Lemon at Hudson Yards. We then visited The Amory Art Show at Jacob Javits Convention Center.

Rooftop Garden

The Electric Lemon is a restaurant on the top and 24th floor of the five-star Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards. The rooftop bar boasts an 8,000-square-foot rooftop garden with a monumental Jaume Plensa sculpture. It overlooks the Hudson River and the city skyline. They possess a wide range of food and drinks, from light bites to seasonal offerings at dinner and rooftop brunch on the weekends. It’s open all year round because of the sleek and expansive dining room and fire-pits on the al fresco terrace.

Passionate Farmers

We ate inside the dining room to escape the dense humidity that day. There is where they serve seasonal American cuisine, celebrating the passionate farmers, growers, and artisans of the special Mid-Atlantic region.

Here are some restaurant photos.

So, what did I decide to order?

We ate around 11 am and chose selections from the Brunch Menu. I decided to have Avocado Toast and two poached eggs. Hmmm….Good.

Selected Shorts: Ken Burns Presents Willa Cather’s America

After the final reading, Burns remarked, “Let’s put Cather back on the Times Best Seller list. You will not be disappointed.” Not disappointed, the audience celebrated with a hearty round of applause for the brilliant performances of those who were onstage.

A Dark Winter May befall on America Once Again

COVID-19 deaths have continued to happen in the U.S. over the past few years. As winter approaches, COVID-19, unlike the influenza of 1918, is a coronavirus we still know little about. If you were preparing for war, you would know your enemy. Some experts claim a cure is close, but I believe there isn’t one yet. We must keep fighting this invisible enemy that is trying to destroy us.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

I suppose that the title of my blog post, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is a little misleading because it turned out to be Dinner at Tiffany’s, or more accurately, Dinner at the Blue Box Café. This Cafe honors the romance of the 1961 film starring Audrey Hepburn. Tiffany’s of course was the romantic setting where the lovely Audrey Hepburn went each morning with a pastry and cup of coffee to have breakfast as she window shopped. You might add Breakfast at Tiffany’s to your movie viewing list if you’ve missed it. The song Moon River will have new meaning for you!
