White Wave SoloDuo Dance Festival

NEW YORK – White Wave SoloDuo Dance Festival. While motion sometimes reveled in silence, tonight’s music afforded sonic landscapes and tensions for artistic power. We sensed Zen, religious connotations, the dialectics of cacophony, surreal imagery, and sparkling, pulsating, synthesized sounds.

Aberdeen at the Soho Playhouse

Cassie Workman’s astonishing Aberdeen at the Soho Playhouse is a tragic poem of Euripidean intensity chronicling for us the life and death of Kurt Cobain and what his passing meant to her. She conjures for us the hero, the quiet god, full of flaws and glories akin to the Greek and Roman deities.

A Tribute to Chita Rivera at Café Carlyle

A Tribute to Chita Rivera at Café Carlyle – she doesn’t just take the stage at Café Carlyle, she hoists it over her shoulder and walks off with it and so in love with being on a stage that you wonder what pitiful amount of energy she might have left to devote to other matters.

The Animal Kingdom

The Animal Kingdom by Ruby Thomas, now at the Connelly Theatre, is a pressure cooker of a play that glides by in a flash – Sam (Uly Schlesinger) has recently tried to kill himself and is now in an institution of some sort for his own safety and may be in a place where he might find some surcease.
