Inside Aqua: A Palace of Culinary Wonders

The interior of Aqua is nothing short of breathtaking. Spread across two floors, the restaurant boasts three private dining rooms, a lounge with speakeasy potential, and a dazzling bar. At the center of it all stands a 44-seat bar encircling a mesmerizing hemp rope sculpture, illuminated to perfection.

For sushi lovers, the pièce de résistance is the 22-seat sushi bar—longer than a bowling lane—where skilled chefs craft delicate masterpieces right before your eyes. Aqua has the perfect seating, whether you come for an intimate date, a celebratory feast, or an indulgent solo escape.

The Menu: A Fusion of Italian and Japanese Elegance

Aqua’s menu is an exquisite dance between Italy’s bold flavors and Japan’s delicate artistry. Guests can indulge in offerings from both cuisines or focus on a single culinary tradition. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits.

Italian Indulgences

    • Raw Bar Selections – Fresh oysters, scallops, and crudo
    • Antipasti – Creamy burrata, crispy arancini, and decadent lobster pizzette
    • Handmade Pasta – Classic linguine with clams, rich and briny
  • Entrees – The fiery Pollo alla Diavola, perfectly charred and flavorful

Japanese Sensations

  • Robata Grill Creations – Succulent wings, smoky pork belly
  • Signature Seafood Fried Rice – Bursting with umami
  • 12-Piece Sashimi Platter – A pristine selection of fresh fish
  • “Crystal Sushi” – Aqua’s signature dish, featuring seafood encased in delicate flavored jellies like scallop-caviar and kimchi jelly

Restaurant Week: An Unforgettable Tasting Journey

During NYC Restaurant Week, my dining companion and I embarked on a prix-fixe adventure. When we sat down, a steaming bowl of Miso Soup arrived alongside perfectly salted edamame, setting the stage for an impeccable meal.

Appetizer: A Spinach Symphony

I opted for the spinach salad from the appetizer selection, draped in a nutty toasted Goma dressing. The freshness of the greens and the richness of the sesame played in perfect harmony, creating a vibrant start to the meal.

Main Course: Chicken Milanese, A Comforting Classic

For my entrée, I selected the Chicken Milanese, a golden, crispy delight served with cannellini beans, a bright lemon butter sauce, and fresh oregano. Each bite transported me to an Italian trattoria, where the flavors spoke of tradition and warmth.

Dessert: A Decadent Finale

To end on a high note, I savored the Black Sesame Chocolate Fondant, a molten masterpiece accompanied by Valrhona green tea ice cream and a hint of white chocolate. Each spoonful delivered a bittersweet crescendo, melting into perfection.
